The World of Dyslexia Teaching

There is a long standing argument within the world of dyslexia teaching….Synthetic phonics vs analytic phonics vs morphological approaches - it can be a minefield, with teachers passionately favouring one over the other. At New Ways, we understand every learner is different and a fixed approach just isn’t the way for us! Our teachers are experienced in identifying and using the approach that suits each learner the best. Here we can see an older learner who recently joined the New Ways team finally experiencing success and being taught through a whole word morphological approach using multisensory teaching practices. Previous years of phonics repetition, over and over again led to slow progress and low self esteem but now positive learning experiences are creating firm foundations for them to build their reading, writing and spelling skills.
