The POWER of visuals - this set is used by one of our youngest learners.

Children with an autistic spectrum condition tend to understand visual images more easily than spoken words - so we combine the two so they can use their strengths to support their difficulties. Providing more visual structure can make a confusing environment easier to understand and therefore reduce anxieties.

Countdown boards, Now and Next boards, Sentence strips and pictures to exchange alongside words are all resources we use frequently - but it is so important they are introduced gradually, in a motivating way and at a level suited to the learner’s needs.
