One group starting before September is the “Moving on Up!” group – a weekly small group session for year 6 children who may have diagnosed anxiety or present with related symptoms and worry about the transition to secondary school.

Since launching the Facebook page at the weekend a few parents have requested support with transition – as an experienced mainstream teacher at heart, I understand the amount of preparation and planning that class teachers and transition leaders put into successful transition and know that move up days and ‘meet your teachers’ sessions have been booked in the school diaries for months in advance and these will soon be underway – if not already!

This group aims to complement the programme already set by school and offer additional support to those who may benefit from a more enhanced programme – with the opportunity to meet learners from other schools and build friendships before the big day. We have had to act fast to respond to parent requests and the first groups are now underway!
