Most of us use our EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING skills to complete every day tasks automatically without even knowing it!

We plan what we want to do, we gather the equipment we need, we get started with it, we remember what we are doing whilst we are doing it, we monitor our performance and actions and decide if we need a break and we can be flexible with on the spot changes that may occur.

Imagine life where these skills are not automatic - imagine life in a classroom with 30 other people who can do this....where you are one of the few that can't. Attention, concentration, planning, organisation, memory and regulation are all examples of executive functioning that can be impacted by specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD and ASD.

Teacher awareness is key to optimal learning and making progress - an understanding teacher can adapt and support learning activities whilst teaching and practising the functioning skills needed to complete it.
