One of our learners is interested in cooking so his learning programme included lots of practical activities centred around food - yum !! Here we are investigating sugar as an ingredient and the impact it has on teeth if left unbrushed - our ‘Plaque Attack’ experiment. This ‘science’ lesson included English - reading, understanding and writing, maths - measuring, estimating and comparing, fine motor- pouring and spoon control, sensory exploration - how does sugar look, sound, smell, feel and taste, social skills - sharing equipment and turn taking and a just a little bit of fun thrown in…all before the scientific enquiry and evaluation took over!
