Abstract formulas

Remembering abstract formulas can be difficult if you don’t understand the ‘why’ behind the maths. Here our learner was using ‘real’ resources to investigate the surface area of a sphere. Starting at a concrete level and developing to a pictorial level can help secure a deeper understanding ready for the abstract level of maths.
